This policy explains what information the Classic Serenade application (the "App") and the associated pages on soundica.app process, why, and your rights under applicable laws including the EU/UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Quebec's Law 25, the Korean Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI), Singapore PDPA, India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, and the Australian Privacy Act.
This policy applies to the Classic Serenade app on all form factors and stores it is distributed through — Google Play (smartphone and tablet), Google Play Cars (Android Automotive OS), and the Appning by FORVIA AOSP head-unit store — and to the corresponding pages on soundica.app.
Classic Serenade is designed to work without a user account and without tracking identifiers. Specifically:
archive.org), which hosts the underlying recording files. Soundica does not host, rehost, or proxy the audio. The Internet Archive receives the standard network metadata of any web request (URL, User-Agent, your device's public IP address at the transport layer). Soundica does not log or store this. The Internet Archive's own privacy practices apply to their servers.archive.org or a CDN); this request contains no personal data.Under GDPR Art. 6(1)(b), the limited processing described above is necessary to deliver the service you have asked for (showing the catalog, playing a piece, resuming where you left off). No consent banner is required because we do not set tracking cookies, do not use the data for profiling, and do not share it with advertising partners.
Because the App stores nothing about you on our servers, we have nothing to retain. The bundled and any remote catalog manifests are keyed by track id and license metadata, never by user. Local playback state remains on your device until you uninstall the App or use Settings → Reset listening history.
The audio source (Internet Archive) is operated from the United States. If you play a piece from outside the U.S., your network request is necessarily routed to U.S. infrastructure at the transport layer. Because no personal data is stored by Soundica, no Standard Contractual Clauses or transfer impact assessments are required for the App itself. Your relationship with the Internet Archive's servers is governed by their own privacy policy.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, object to processing, and request portability of your personal data. Because Soundica does not hold any personal data linked to you, requests to access or delete will be answered with "we have no data linked to you." You always have the unconditional right to delete the App from your device, which removes all locally-stored settings.
To exercise these rights, contact Soundica at admin@soundica.app. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority — for example, the ICO (UK), CNIL (France), BfDI (Germany), Garante (Italy), AEPD (Spain), PIPC (Korea), PPC (Japan), OAIC (Australia), or the relevant State Data Protection Officer under India's DPDP Act.
The App is a general-audience public-domain classical music player and is not directed to children under 13 (under 16 in some EU member states, under 14 in Korea). We do not knowingly collect any data from children. The catalog consists of classical compositions in the public domain and is suitable for all ages.
Classic Serenade plays only recordings whose both the underlying composition and the specific sound recording are in the public domain or released under a permissive Creative Commons licence (CC0 1.0 Universal, or CC BY with attribution surfaced in the App's Credits screen). Music carries two stacked copyrights — a composition (notes/lyrics) and a recording (a specific performance) — and both must be clear.
Each track in the catalog passes a per-track due-diligence gate before inclusion:
The primary source is Musopen (mixed-licence catalogue, filtered to CC0 and CC BY only), streamed directly from the Internet Archive's public file CDN. Classic Serenade is independent and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Musopen, the Internet Archive, IMSLP, or any other content source. The App does not rehost, re-encode, or re-distribute the underlying files.
Public domain is territorial. The App is distributed in regions where sound-recording terms differ — for example, U.S. (rolling cutoff under the Music Modernization Act; 1925-or-earlier publication = PD as of 2026), EU/UK (70 years from publication), Korea (70 years, per the KORUS FTA), and India (60 years from publication, Copyright Act §27). The Soundica curation prefers recordings whose status is clear in all of these jurisdictions.
If you are a rights holder and believe a specific track is included in error, please see Section 13 for the designated copyright agent and notice procedure.
All network traffic from the App is encrypted with TLS (HTTPS). The App requests only the minimum permissions needed (Internet access; foreground-service playback; optional notifications) and stores its local state in the App's private sandbox.
If this policy changes materially, we will update the "Effective" date and, where required by law, prompt you in-app.
